Rádio São João do Sudoeste do Paraná nasceu oficialmente no dia 20 de julho de 1987. Sempre com o slogan: “O ELO DE COMUNICAÇÃO DA SOCIEDADE” a emissora se tornou o marco da comunicação no município de São João.
A Rádio São João surgiu em um período aonde a comunicação era difícil para um município que estava começando o seu desenvolvimento. O surgimento da emissora veio da necessidade da população local em ter um meio de comunicação em que fosse criada uma identidade cultural da mesma. Conta história que no dia 8 de janeiro de 1986 criou-se a sociedade entre alguns empresários de São João os quais encaminharam ao Ministério das Comunicações o pedido de concorrência.
Em 1º de outubro de 1986 foi feita uma alteração contratual onde se retirou da sociedade um dos empresários. Em 25 de Julho de 1986, através da portaria número 176, o então Ministro das Comunicações Antônio Carlos Magalhães outorgou a permissão à Rádio São João do Sudoeste do Paraná Ltda para explorar os serviços de Radiodifusão Sonora em Onda Média. Tal portaria foi publicada no Diário Oficial da União em 27 de junho de 1986. Em 11 de Julho de 1987 foi efetuada a vistoria para o licenciamento de estação transmissora pelo engenheiro Roberto Lang, o técnico Vinícius Elizio Winkelmam acompanhados pelo então diretor (hoje falecido) Professor Pedro Gasparetto.
Finalmente no dia 20 de Julho de 1987 a emissora entrou no ar em caráter definitivo. Sendo mantida esta direção até o dia primeiro de junho de 1998, quando o Sistema Seleski de Comunicação, com sede em Francisco Beltrão adquiriu a emissora. A Rádio São João segue deixando seu legado de comunicação ativa com jornalismo sério, entretenimento de qualidade e dinamismo próprio, o que a transformou em uma das principais emissoras do Sudoeste do Paraná.
